The Friends of Bantry Hospital have evaluated and prioritized the most immediate needs for Bantry Hospital.
In conjunction with the hospital manager and medical consultants, the need for a specific Echo Cardiogram to assist with diagnosis of heart problems, such as valve disease and cardiac failure, was identified.   Accurate diagnosis will lead to appropriate referral and early intervention.  This will greatly enhance the current cardiac diagnostic services available in Bantry Hospital.
The cost of this machine is just over €100,000.  The Health Service Executive has agreed to make any structural adjustments necessary.  No further staffing is required as the hospital already qualified staff to work with the equipment.

Funds raised by Friends of Bantry Hospital have so far enabled the purchase of the following equipment and facilities for the hospital:
€300,000 – CT Scanner
€110,000 – St Joseph’s Day Room
€80,000 – Rehab unit
€70,000 – Diagnostic equipment for the Intensive Care Unit.

Why not join our energetic 6-mile walk after lunch on St Patrick's Day. We start 2pm sharp at Aughaville and proceed northwards to Trawlebane Bridge, where we turn west and take the scenic route towards Inchabegga and back to Dromore and on to Aughaville again. We may have a story teller on board to regale us with some of the great history of the area, and Glenilen Farm have kindly agreed to turn up and provide some Glenilen refreshments for everybody.  So why not get hold of a sponsorship card and get a few friends to give a few bob to a great cause.
