Donations from The Charity Shop in February for the month of February

€3000 to the McCarthy family who are going to South Africa to build houses with the Niall Mellon project
€1,000 to Fr. Peter McVerry in Dublin for the homeless
€3000 to Atlantic Challenge for their event in Finland (to cover the cost of mast and oars)
€2000 to Cancer Support Group (Bantry branch)

Within the last four weeks, there been FIVE different groups leaving black bags on doorsteps inviting you to give them your unwanted clothes/goods.  We would like to remind you that there is no guarantee that these organisations are donating money that they raise to charity.   We have tried phoning them on countless occasions to check if they are legitimate and NEVER got a reply.  By giving your donations to The Charity Shop you can see where your money goes.   We have a chart in the shop showing all the charities and groups who have benefited from our donations since we opened our doors, and we will continue to publish our monthly donations in The Bantry Grapevine.  Please continue to support the local charity shops – most of our donations go to LOCAL charities and organisations, so you can be sure you are helping your local community by supporting us.
